During the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Committee 132
meeting in London, UK, the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation (MoT)
supported the involvement of women in the maritime industry.
Antoni Arif Priadi, Director General of Sea Transportation of the
Ministry of Transportation and head of the Indonesian delegation stated that
the Indonesian government supports China's proposal to amend the IMO Council
Circular regarding the International Maritime Prize (IMP).
"What will be delivered at this session is to strengthen commitment and recognition of the role of women in the gender equality agenda in the maritime sector," Antoni said, quoted from Antara on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Indonesia, as a member of the IMO, through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, attended the session, which took place from July 8 to 12, 2024, at the IMO Headquarters in London, UK.

attended the Council of 132 meeting in London, England. Antoni
said that Victor Jimenez Fernandez from Spain chaired the session. The session
concentrated on IMO's strategic agenda, planning and reform, resource
management, budget 2025–2026, consolidation of IMO convention texts, IMO member
state audit scheme (IMSAS), and reports of several previous IMO committee
sessions.
Antoni also stated that at the session, Indonesia co-sponsored
three documents: Document C132/15, Protection of Important Shipping Lanes; and
Developments in the Collaborative Mechanism for the Straits of Malacca and
Singapore.
He noted that Indonesia, along with Malaysia and Singapore, are
co-sponsors of the document.
"In 2023, Singapore will host the CF 14, TTEG 46 and PCC 14 meetings, followed by the Extended TTEG 46 on January 30, 2024," Antoni said.
However, in 2024, Indonesia will be the host, and the meeting will
be held in Bali on October 21–25, 2024.
"Indonesia is currently the Chair of the Aids to Navigation Fund (ANF) Fund Secretariat for the period 2022-2024, and its report is also contained in this document," he said.
In addition, Indonesia co-sponsored the document External
Relations, IMO Awards, Improving the recognition of women contributing to the
organization, C132/16 (d)/1.
"This document reports on the nomination of candidates for the International Maritime Prize in 2023 and IMO Honors for Exceptional Bravery at Sea in 2024, as well as on the arrangements for the 2024 prize and this year's awards," Antoni said.
In addition, Indonesia collaborates with the additional agenda
item of Document C132/21/3, if Any (d) Consideration of the Recognition,
Observance and Designation of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as official holidays
at IMO.
Antoni said that Indonesia will not only follow the trial process,
but will also take several actions during the trial. One of these actions is to
support the proposal of the highly sensitive sea area (PSSA) of the Lombok
Strait and depository of the instrument of ratification of the 2021 IMO
Convention Amendment.
"We also submitted the proposed names to receive the IMO Gender Equality Awards in 2025, namely Dr. Chandra Motik Yusuf Djemat and Carmelita Hartoto," Antoni said.
